We’re looking for a Senior Manager, Software Engineering, to join our Ads Formats Team.

What you’ll do

Manage a team of engineers, provide support to team members, grow leaders, and foster positive team culture

Drive the team’s strategy and goal setting related to project impact, system design, and engineering excellence, with a specific focus on optimizing ad format performance

Provide technical direction that influences the entire company and improves the performance of the organization

Design, implement, and scale critical engineering components and services to support Snap's most strategic initiatives, especially those related to launching innovative, high‑performing ads formats

Work across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate trade‑offs, and deliver the solutions needed to build innovative products or services, ensuring new formats drive measurable value for advertisers

Advocate for and apply best practices when it comes to availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost management

Deeply analyse format performance metrics (e.g., CTR, conversion rate, latency) to identify and execute on opportunities for performance improvement across the ad formats lifecycle

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Excellent programming and software design skills, including debugging, performance analysis, and test design

Proven track record of operating highly‑available systems at scale, with a demonstrated history of delivering significant performance gains

Ability to proactively learn new concepts and technology and apply them at work

Deep expertise in the architecture and delivery of various digital ads formats (e.g., video, display, augmented reality, dynamic ads), including understanding format specification and rendering optimisation

Experience in the advertising domain, including an understanding of the performance levers in an auction‑based system related to ad quality and format efficacy

Skilled at solving ambiguous problems, defining technical roadmaps that directly translate into measurable business impact

Strong collaboration and mentorship skills

Strong people management and leadership skills

Minimum Qualifications

9+ years of post‑Bachelor’s software development; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 8+ years of post‑grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 5+ years of post‑grad software development experience

2+ years of experience managing high‑performing managers or providing technical and strategic leadership for engineering teams focused on advertising applications

Proven experience in managing, mentoring, and scaling diverse engineering teams to consistently deliver complex, high‑impact projects

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in a technical field such as computer science

Experience with cross‑platform development

Ability to promote product excellence and collaboration, driving a portfolio of concurrent engineering projects, from short‑term critical feature launches to long‑term research initiatives

Ability to create a compelling vision for the future, communicate clearly, and have a collaborative leadership approach

Compensation In the United States, work locations are assigned a pay zone which determines the salary range for the position. The starting pay will be determined based on job‑related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These pay zones may be modified in the future.

Zone A (CA, WA, NYC):

The base salary range for this position is $276,000–$414,000 annually. Zone B:

The base salary range for this position is $262,000–$393,000 annually. Zone C:

The base salary range for this position is $235,000–$352,000 annually. This position is eligible for equity in the form of RSUs.
