IT Project Manager – R&D Lab Operations
Contract : 6-month W2
Pay Range : $48–$58/hour
Russell Tobin is supporting a leading medical device and technology company in their search for an
IT Project Manager
to join their R&D organization. This role is heavily lab-focused and requires a hands‑on technical professional who can manage, maintain, and improve a complex test and development lab environment. Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for lab maintenance, support, and daily operations.
Ensure the lab’s infrastructure is fully functional and accessible for remote teams.
Set up Mac and PC systems using standardized images, applying security patches and ensuring compliance with IT requirements.
Partner with IT to maintain reliable connectivity and troubleshoot network issues.
Assemble and maintain racks of machines and servers; perform hardware updates to support test and validation activities.
Coordinate with Test and Development teams to procure test equipment (switches, mobile devices, Macs, USB cables, etc.) and manage shipments.
Build, maintain, and allocate virtual machines to support scalable test infrastructure.
Ensure all lab activities meet safety, compliance, and ethical standards.
Collect debug logs and collaborate with IT to maintain smooth network operations.
Install and support automation tools used for data collection and lab monitoring.
Utilize lab management software to track device inventory, system health, and equipment lifecycle.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to standardize lab tools and processes.
Maintain accurate documentation for lab layout, processes, device information, and equipment usage.
Track inventory purchases and shipments for internal teams.
Qualifications
Experience supporting IT or engineering lab environments (R&D, test, or validation labs preferred).
Proficiency with both MacOS and Windows system imaging and configuration.
Strong understanding of networking basics, connectivity troubleshooting, and IT coordination.
Hands‑on experience with hardware setup, rack equipment, and/or server maintenance.
Familiarity with virtual machines, lab automation tools, or lab management systems is a plus.
Excellent organizational skills, record‑keeping, and attention to detail.
Ability to work onsite full‑time in a fast‑paced, collaborative engineering environment.
