The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD is hiring a Director of Security. The Security Director will have responsibility for oversight of Security operations and systems necessary to effectively manage the Harris Center’s complex security needs in an environment of safety. Security operations will include financial, operational and strategic management. This position requires a strategic thinker with understanding of security and law enforcement operations to carry out the multiple tasks involved in the Agency’s security environment. Monitors and promotes security operations to help assure the safety of personnel and the public in Agency facilities through vigilant attentiveness to policy and controls. Reports to the Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management.

Your Role In Action

Provide direct oversight, training, and guidance to contracted security company on The Harris Center protocols.

Provides input and expertise on environmental and structural approaches to maximize organizational security.

Evaluate, recommend, and oversee access control and camera systems utilizing technology solutions.

Serves as an internal consultant to The Harris Center and member of Emergency Response Team.

Develops process improvement strategies for lifecycle accountability and management of protecting assets.

Directs all aspects of security program, including assisting ERM, Legal and Human Resources in Investigations.

Responsible for planning, staffing, and effective utilization of resources to safeguard and better serve The Harris Center personnel and consumers.

Serves as The Harris Center liaison with all external law enforcement agencies.

Preserve video evidence for The Harris Center for internal evaluation and response to law enforcement subpoenas.

Serve as critical member of Incident Command team during emergencies. This will include participating on county and region wide emergency operations calls and meetings.

Develops and coordinates the Center’s projects with technicians and subcontractors, including working after hours and weekends to meet job requirements.

Trains end users on use of access control to prevent utilization errors and false alarms.

Collaborate with Risk Management and Facilities Services to ensure continuity of The Harris Center operations.

Accurately and expeditiously identifies, verifies, responds to and manages alarm sources/causes;maintaining surveillance, and communication with proper authorities and responsible parties.

Meets regularly with end users and maintains adequate security guard staffing levels.

Consults with the Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management concerning security needs, recommendations, and changes that may impact business operations.

Communicates the results of security data, crime analysis, and other reports.

Position may require off hour work hours and weekends to assist in security matters.

Education What qualifications you will need:

Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent.

Experience: Seven (7) years of management experience of a large law enforcement staff or security operation. Basic understanding of Network concepts with extended knowledge of OS and Windows.

Other Key Qualifications

Maintain TCOLE license. Must possess a Texas Driver License, Eligible to become a Center Certified Driver

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Knowledge of relevant regulatory agencies and rules, organizational structure and chain of command.

Reasonable understanding of Texas and Federal laws.

Strong background and In-depth knowledge base of law enforcement/security industry.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

Proficient in use of access control and IP video surveillance systems.

Ability to interact in a professional manner with the public, law enforcement, patient population, and employees on all levels.
