Facility Operations Lead

role at

Grafton Sciences

We’re building AI systems with general physical ability — the capacity to experiment, engineer, or manufacture anything. We believe achieving this is a key step towards building superintelligence. With deep technical roots and real-world progress at scale (e.g., a $42M NIH project), we’re pushing the frontier of physical AI. Joining us means inventing from first principles, owning real systems end‑to‑end, and helping build a capability the world has never had before.

About the Role: We’re seeking a Facility Operations Lead to oversee the daily operations, safety, and reliability of a highly automated engineering lab. You’ll manage station layouts, environmental controls, material routing, equipment uptime, and robotic safety zones. This role is both strategic and hands‑on — ensuring that tools run reliably, the floor operates safely, and the infrastructure required for autonomous fabrication is always available and maintained.

Responsibilities

Manage lab floor operations, including station layout, material flow, utilities, and environmental control systems.

Oversee safety protocols, robot safety zones, interlocks, risk assessments, and compliance procedures.

Maintain equipment uptime through preventive maintenance, facility monitoring, and reliability planning.

Coordinate scheduling alignment, machine availability, and operational readiness across engineering and manufacturing teams.

Qualifications

Experience running operations in robotics, advanced manufacturing, or R&D‑intensive lab environments.

Strong knowledge of equipment safety, facilities infrastructure, preventative maintenance, and lab workflow management.

Ability to diagnose and resolve issues across mechanical, electrical, and environmental systems.

Comfortable owning complex operational systems in a fast‑moving, multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Above all, we look for candidates who can demonstrate world‑class excellence.

Compensation We offer competitive salary, meaningful equity, and benefits.
