About the Role Tulane University’s Program of Nursing is seeking a Director of Academic Affairs to lead and support the academic operations of our Nursing Program. Responsibilities include managing key academic systems such as CourseLeaf/CLSS, Banner, and the Catalog to maintain accurate schedules, student records, and program information. The role coordinates course, clinical, and simulation schedules to ensure alignment between didactic and clinical instruction.
The director oversees student clinical placements in collaboration with the Clinical Placement Coordinator, negotiates affiliation agreements, and develops strategic plans for clinical site utilization while maintaining strong partnerships with healthcare organizations. Working closely with the Dean and Assistant Dean, this position ensures policies, handbooks, and onboarding processes are current and effective, and supports recruitment, mentoring, and development of faculty.
Additional duties include guiding faculty development, implementing curriculum tools such as ATI, ExamSoft, and Project Concert, and fostering innovative student enrichment activities that reflect the cultural and community values of New Orleans. The director supervises key staff, addresses academic progression and integrity issues, serves on committees, and teaches, as needed. Qualifications
Eligibility for a Louisiana RN license
DNP or PhD degree in nursing, with consideration given to related fields
Minimum of 5 years of experience in nursing education, including curriculum development and academic administration
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Experience in strategic planning and partnership development with healthcare organizations
Preferred Experience
Prior experience in faculty recruitment, mentoring, and development
Familiarity with curriculum and assessment tools such as ATI, ExamSoft, and Project Concert
Proficiency with academic scheduling and student information systems (e.g., Banner, CourseLeaf/CLSS)
Experience with clinical placement coordination and affiliation agreements
Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level
