Eaton’s Advanced Technology team is hiring a
Senior Firmware Engineer . We are seeking an innovative problem‑solver to design firmware for electronics used in low voltage and medium voltage circuit breakers for the Protection, Control and Solutions Business. The role will be located in Moon Township, PA and offers a hybrid work model (3 onsite/2 remote).
As part of the Advanced Technology team, you will work with a dedicated group of engineers and experience the excitement of bringing new products to life from design concept through to production launch. The primary function is to design and develop embedded software for power electronics‑based circuit protection products and Eaton’s family of circuit breakers. This includes creating functionality related to hardware drivers, protection, metering, communication, and user interface.
In This Role You Will
Perform embedded design and testing tasks for firmware development
Develop control and electrical fault management algorithm and firmware leveraging HIL
Plan work in detail at the individual level, creating a robust and trackable plan coordinated with the larger development team, including requirement definition and issue tracking
Review own work as well as others’ work in formal design and quality reviews
Test own work or work of others, meeting quality and reliability goals
Develop a high level of technical expertise in embedded software design
Perform and contribute to technical research and investigations
Collaborate with teams from ERL, Electrical Sector Center of Excellence, and external technology resources (National Labs and Universities) for technology and product innovation
Generate value‑added intellectual property
Qualifications
Minimum three years’ experience developing embedded firmware for electronic control
Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field (Electrical, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science) from an accredited institution
No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50‑mile radius of Moon Township, PA will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Real‑time Operating systems
Experience with embedded firmware in 8‑bit through 32‑bit microcontrollers (e.g., ARM Cortex, PIC)
Experience in implementing wired communication protocols
Experience with wireless communications systems, such as Bluetooth, WiFi, and Zigbee/Matter
Experience in developing device drivers and hardware bring‑up
Your Skills
Proficient in C, Python, Java, R, HTML, JavaScript
Experience with C++
Experience in using defect tracking systems and code repository
Ability to read schematics
Enjoys hands‑on work and has experience with lab equipment and safety
Experienced in code sharing tools and multi‑person development
Knowledge of and experience with project tracking tools such as Jira and JAMA
Strong written and verbal communication skills

The expected annual salary range for this role is \$88,499.97 - \$129,799.96 per year. This role is also eligible for a variable incentive program.
