What to Expect
The Tesla Energy UI team is seeking a skilled Product Designer to join our mission of accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy. You will be responsible for researching, designing, innovating, prototyping and testing new digital experiences that pave the way for the future of Energy tools at Tesla. Your work will directly impact the energy industry by enabling intuitive, visually compelling tools that enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.
You’ll collaborate closely with customers, Product Managers, Engineers and cross-functional teams to deliver extensible design systems and open-source quality solutions. This role requires a high degree of initiative, creativity, and technical expertise. You will be expected to work collaboratively with the sales and engineering teams, as well as independently on projects and initiatives as needed.
What You'll Do
Design intuitive, high-quality user experiences across web, mobile and desktop applications – supporting our core offerings across our energy business
Lead design on key product initiatives from discovery through launch, using a mix of UX research, prototyping, and visual design
Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Managers, Engineers, and Operations Leaders to align on goals, ship efficiently, and ensure a high bar for quality
Use data, research, and customer insight to inform design decisions and continuously improve our product experiences
Present work to partners, stakeholders, and senior leaders regularly
What You'll Bring
Degree in the study of design, or portfolio that shows equivalent project experience
5+ years of product design experience creating engaging digital products
Excellent visual, UI, and UX design skills, ability to think through complete interaction design
An excellent portfolio showcasing user experience, visual design, and UI work with a strong design sensibility and excellent, user centric storytelling
Experience designing information-dense interfaces or dashboards that are accessible, comprehensible, and optimized for user efficiency, ensuring complex data is presented clearly across diverse user groups
Motivated by solving real, messy, complex problems, not just pushing pixels
A collaborative teammate who loves feedback, iteration, and learning from users
Comfortable owning projects independently and navigating ambiguity with confidence
Enthusiasm for staying at the forefront of technology trends and a commitment to continuous learning, particularly in the fields of renewable energy and sustainable technologies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders from different functional areas

Expected Compensation $124,000 - $216,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits. Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
