Job Description The Senior Customer Engagement Manager (Sr. CEM) fosters partnerships with national and regional leaders to develop patient advocacy, optimize educational interchange, and share market insights to advance brand strategy. The goal is to create a positive Thought Leader experience that differentiates Jazz Pharmaceuticals from peers in the Epilepsy and Movement Disorders field.
This is a field‑based position reporting to the Sr. Director, Customer Engagement. The role requires up to 75% travel and involves interactions with physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, residents, and fellows. It works cross‑functionally with Sales, Sales Training, Marketing, Compliance, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Long‑Term Care.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, develop, and connect scientific thought leaders to elevate the epilepsy treatment paradigm.
Drive cross‑functional coordination (Sales, Marketing, Medical, Advocacy, Home Office) to align resources and remove KOL barriers.
Track and manage budgets for areas of responsibility.
Map regional influence networks and connect brand champions with up‑to‑date and emerging physicians from fellowship programs.
Regional Planning and Coordination
Drive internal steering committee to establish strategies for KOL development in the region.
Partner on regional community education programs and professional congresses.
Plan and facilitate residency & fellowship education to expand disease‑state knowledge.
Identify opportunities for regional medical centers to support rare epilepsy patient identification.
Participate as a lead team member in Managed Markets initiatives for improved access.
Use reimbursement knowledge to help KOLs understand financial barriers for new patients.
Partner on selecting KOLs for presentations and discussions (e.g., POA, HCP symposiums).
Support NAMs and ARMs in developing annual business plans.
Contribute insights on market dynamics during annual brand planning.
Key Opinion Leader Engagement & Development
Build advocacy with KOLs using on‑label, legal, and regulatory approved materials.
Identify shared purposes between Jazz and KOLs to benefit the epilepsy community.
Maintain strong relationships with the neurology medical community, academic centers, and teaching institutions.
Foster high‑level home‑office and regional interactions to identify and communicate market opportunities.
Generate new peer‑to‑peer interaction opportunities.
Insight Generation & Sharing
Act as disease‑state and product expert to internal stakeholders.
Develop plans with clear objectives for customer‑facing activities at major congresses such as AES and CNS.
Facilitate interactions between KOLs and Jazz’s senior management.
Pre‑launch account profiling to identify influential KOLs.
Speaker Bureau Development
Identify, nominate, train, and monitor speakers.
Collaborate with field, headquarters, and physicians to contract, train, and evaluate promotional speakers.
Provide yearly feedback and manage speaker capacity decisions.
Collect feedback from Medical, Marketing, Sales, and physicians to refine speaker programs.
Education Level And Languages Required
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in business or science preferred.
English required; additional language skills are a plus.
Professional Skills, Qualifications And Experience
Minimum 8+ years in field sales, product marketing, or medical/clinical roles in pharma/healthcare; at least 3 years in sales management or marketing leadership.
Experience in neurology, epilepsy, or specialty pharmaceuticals highly desirable.
Experience in institutional or large‑account sales a plus.
Experience launching products or services a plus.
Scientific or clinical background a plus.
Recent U.S. experience managing a brand across lifecycle stages.
Experience in healthcare professional and patient/consumer marketing a plus.
Proven track record of influencing without authority.
Knowledge of customer loyalty/satisfaction metrics and integration into business processes.
Strong understanding of Medicare reimbursement and specialty neurology markets.
Knowledge of patient‑focused advocacy within HIPAA regulations.
Experience in affiliate commercial operations a plus.
Current understanding of pharmaceutical promotional rules and regulations.
Data‑analysis skills for account planning and performance measurement.
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Personal Skills & Competencies
Maintain high product knowledge for effective communication with healthcare professionals.
Strong business and financial skills to manage budgets.
