Accounting Director – North America
Global Manufacturing & Technology Organization | Chicago-Based Hybrid | High Visibility Leadership Role
Base pay range $150,000.00/yr - $200,000.00/yr
The Opportunity A global, publicly traded manufacturing and technology company is seeking an
Accounting Director
to lead accounting operations across multiple business units and locations. This is a high-impact leadership role with significant visibility across regional and global leadership teams.
You’ll oversee accounting teams, strengthen reporting processes, drive standardization, and support large-scale integration efforts. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys leading people, improving processes, and partnering cross-functionally at a strategic level.
What You’ll Do
Lead, coach, and develop a team of ~20 accounting professionals across North America (5 direct, ~20 indirect).
Conduct reviews, set goals, and drive professional development.
Ensure accurate, complete, and timely financial reporting for all North American entities.
Oversee revenue accounting, consolidations, and the monthly/quarterly reporting process.
Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Manage SOX-related controls and compliance frameworks.
Lead the transition of legacy business units into a standardized accounting model.
Partner with global leaders to align systems, structures, and reporting.
Support control implementation, process improvements, and organizational changes.
Drive efficiency, automation, and global standardization across all accounting processes.
Partner with global Centers of Excellence to enhance accuracy and reduce manual work.
Implement best practices and modernize workflows.
Strategic Support & Decision Making
Work closely with senior leadership to provide insights on financial performance.
Identify risks, recommend improvements, and support strategic planning.
Lead or support high-priority special projects in accounting and finance.
What You Need
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
12+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 7+ years managing teams.
Strong background in U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
Experience with SOX compliance is required.
Comfortable leading large teams, influencing across departments, and navigating change.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
