Billing Coordinator
Full-time | Law Firm
(*NOTE: I have jobs for both junior and senior billing coordinators. Some are hybrid and some are remote. All jobs are based in Chicago, IL.)
Typical Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and process monthly client invoices in accordance with firm and client guidelines
Work directly with attorneys and administrative staff to ensure accurate time entries and billing narratives
Maintain and update client billing information, rate structures, and accounting records
Monitor unbilled time and expenses; follow up to ensure prompt billing
Submit invoices through electronic billing (eBilling) systems utilizing LEDES formats and client billing portals
Research and resolve billing discrepancies or client inquiries regarding invoices and statements
Assist with collections follow-up and accounts receivable tracking as needed
Support month-end and year-end billing and finance processes
Ensure confidentiality and maintain compliance with firm standards and billing/client guidelines
Typical Qualifications
Minimum
3 years of law firm billing experience
required
Able to commute to Chicago office
Experience with legal billing software (e.g., Aderant, Elite 3E, ProLaw, Clio, or similar)
Familiarity with LEDES billing formats and eBilling portals
Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational and time-management skills
Excellent communication and client-service skills
Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Outlook in particular)
Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred (not required)
