Pay Range $75,390.00 / yr - $90,000.00 / yr
Role Summary The Health and Safety Manager will support the Resort’s Health & Safety Director in designing and implementing all necessary health and safety programmes. Responsibilities include strategic planning, risk assessment, stakeholder engagement, training delivery, monitoring compliance, incident investigation, and emergency response.
Support the Health & Safety Director in developing and implementing strategies and programmes across the resort.
Assist in risk assessments, safety audits, incident investigations, and develop corrective actions.
Deliver training and communication programmes; ensure competency of personnel at all levels.
Monitor, audit and uphold health and safety standards; perform trend analysis for continuous improvement.
Act as a safety resource on designated trading days and support capital project works.
Lead health & safety initiatives such as the ‘Protecting the Magic’ campaign.
Coordinate consultative health & safety forums; facilitate open communication across the resort.
Prepare and cascade health & safety communications and briefing materials.
Provide guidance and coaching to management teams.
Assist in emergency planning, incident response, and liaise with emergency services.
Advise on health & safety IT systems and documentation.
Provide support for regulatory compliance and industry standards.
Assist management with safe design, mobilisation and launch of projects.
Oversee contractor management programme, ensuring safety rules are understood.
Drive a proactive safety culture across departments.
Lead safety risk management for technical services and resort operations.
Develop risk assessments, SOPs, and Codes of Safe Working Practices; ensure communication, training, and implementation.
Support resolution of liability and workers compensation claims.
Deputise for the Director in absence to maintain continuity.
Collaborate with resort departments for effective implementation of safety requirements.
Provide direction, guidance and development to management teams.
Help develop new strategies and ideas alongside management to reduce incident levels.
Act as safety duty resource on trading days; support staff and guests.
Support capital project works; adopt safety risk management measures.
Establish organisational systems and risk control methods for hardware and human performance.
Act as local reference point for health & safety IT systems.
Attend H&S Committee meetings and employee forums; chair meetings as appropriate.
Liaise with enforcement bodies on incidents, near‑misses, compliance and complaints.
Identify, develop and deliver health & safety training programmes.
Work with management to ensure role‑specific training is implemented and reviewed.
Track effectiveness of health & safety training programme.
Plan and coordinate safety drills with departments and external agencies.
Investigate significant incidents, near‑misses, unsafe conditions; conduct root‑cause analysis and oversee corrective actions.
Oversee management of security and first‑aid operations compliance.
Liaise with insurers and claims handlers to resolve incident matters.
Qualifications & Experience
Proven experience in a health and safety management role, preferably in a high‑risk or complex environment.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing safety policies, initiatives and training programmes.
Experience in conducting risk assessments, safety audits and inspections.
Track record in incident investigation and root‑cause analysis with corrective actions.
Safety qualification(s) required (e.g., OSHA 30, NEBOSH National Diploma, etc.).
Safety qualification(s) preferred (e.g., Degree in Safety Management, ASP, CSP, SMS, OHST).
Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards status.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data reporting tools.
Excellent management and organisational skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Thorough knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and regulations.
Hands‑on safety management experience in a safety‑critical organisation; experience in delivering health & safety training.
Experience with health & safety management systems and auditing.
Analytical, detail‑oriented; ability to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
Proactive problem‑solving and decision‑making with focus on mitigation and improvement.
