Research Nurse Coordinator GI - MGH

Overview The Mass General Cancer Center Protocol Office (CCPO) conducts multi-phase studies in the outpatient setting at the MGH Cancer Center. The Gastrointestinal (GI) research team specializes in treating cancers throughout the GI tract, including esophageal, gastric, colon, and pancreatic cancers. Two years of RN experience is required, with oncology and/or research nursing experience preferred.
Responsibilities
Screen and enroll patients for clinical trials.
Provide patient education and support between treatment visits.
Manage symptom control and adverse event reporting.
Document encounters and protocol assessments in the medical record.
Collaborate closely with Infusion RNs, APPs, physicians, and the research team to ensure protocol adherence.
Advocate for patients throughout the trial process.
Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records.
Administer investigational medications and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
Record vital signs and monitor changes in patient condition.
Consult and coordinate with the healthcare team to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care plans.
Modify patient treatment plans as needed based on patient responses.
Qualifications
Education:
Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Experience:
Two years RN experience required; oncology or research nursing preferred.
Licenses and Credentials:
Registered Nurse (RN) state license.
Clinical nursing experience of 0-1 year required.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Familiarity with practical nursing principles and patient care skills.
Knowledge of age‑specific care requirements.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Pay Range: $41.72 - $105.65 per hour
