Director of Applications Engineering – Data Centres (AMER)
Location: Remote

Director of Applications Engineering , you’ll be the technical architect behind cutting‑edge cooling solutions for the world’s most advanced data centres. You’ll bridge Sales and Engineering, transforming customer requirements into optimised, high‑performance designs that set industry benchmarks.
What You’ll Do Lead & Inspire
Build and mentor a high‑performing Applications Engineering team.
Create scalable processes and tools for fast‑turn quoting and concept design.
Drive a culture of innovation and collaboration across Sales, Engineering, and Product teams.
Shape early‑stage designs for air and liquid cooling systems (CRAHs, CDUs, chillers, fan walls, hybrid systems).
Balance performance, manufacturability, and cost with precision.
Embed design‑for‑manufacture principles to accelerate production.
Partner & Influence
Collaborate with Sales to deliver winning technical proposals.
Guide feasibility, risk evaluation, and trade‑off analysis during the sales cycle.
Work with Product and NPD teams to transition concepts into production‑ready designs.
Develop standardised templates and parametric models to speed up quoting.
Capture lessons learned to continuously enhance design efficiency and quality.
What We’re Looking For
Engineering Leader:
Proven success leading technical teams in HVAC, cooling, or mission‑critical environments.
Data Centre Expert:
Deep knowledge of thermal management and liquid cooling principles.
Design‑for‑Manufacture Mindset:
Skilled at balancing cost, performance, and production feasibility.
High‑Velocity Operator:
Thrives in fast‑turn, high‑complexity environments.
Collaborative Partner & Builder:
Aligns teams and scales processes for growth.
Requirements
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
10+ years in applications/design engineering within HVAC or data centres.
5+ years leading multi‑disciplinary technical teams.
Strong understanding of ASHRAE TC9.9 standards and cooling system design.
