We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to join our team at Westwood Golf Club. This role works under the general supervision of the Director of Agronomy and the Superintendent. He or she plays a key part in maintaining exceptional course conditions, supervising staff, and ensuring an outstanding playing experience for all members and guests.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Operations: Assist the Golf Course Superintendent in daily operations and staff supervision. Assign tasks, prepare work schedules, and manage workflow to ensure efficient maintenance operations. Help oversee maintenance-related supplies, chemicals, and fertilizers. Promote golfer satisfaction through high-quality course conditions and clear communication. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Course & Grounds Maintenance: Assist with and supervise the maintenance of greens, fairways, roughs, tees, bunkers, and landscaped areas. Oversee fertilizing, top dressing, soil conditioning, irrigation, and pest/weed control programs. Participate in mowing, cup changing, bunker raking, and turf care as needed. Assist with and supervise planting, pruning, trimming, spraying, and replacement of trees, shrubs, and ornamental plants.
Chemical & Fertilizer Applications: Supervise and participate in the proper application of fertilizers and pesticides. Ensure safe handling, storage, and use of chemicals by all staff.
Irrigation & Water Management: Assist with irrigation system operation, maintenance, repair, and installation of sprinkler lines and heads. Implement water usage tracking and assist with monthly reporting on ponds, wells, and other water sources.
Equipment & Safety: Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of mechanical and power equipment. Ensure equipment is used according to operating standards and safety guidelines. Schedule maintenance activities to minimize disruption to golfers and maximize efficiency.
Educational Requirements
2 to 4 years of experience in golf course maintenance.
Turf management degree 2-year associate / 4-year bachelor degree in turf management or an agronomy related field is emphasized, but not required.
Spanish speaking or willingness to learn the language a plus.
Strong leadership, team player, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions for extended periods.
Physical strength and endurance required for manual labor tasks.
Ability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Valid pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain one.
