Position Summary The Senior Project Manager is responsible for assigned project work—single or multiple projects—and all activities associated with those projects. Responsibilities include oversight of MEI field teams, coordination of all project activities from quoting through onsite management, and final closeout. The role involves managing multiple functional areas, ensuring project scope, budget, and timelines are met, and serving as the primary liaison among sales, operations, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities

Review plans and other technical documents; answer questions regarding scope and timing, monitor costs, and track progress.

Conduct pre‑hand‑off and post‑hand‑off meetings with sales and operations to clarify scope, expectations, and lessons learned.

Understand contract language and execute projects within contract scope.

Plan, administer, and complete assigned projects across multiple functional areas (facilities, operations, administration).

Manage assignments of varying length, complexity, and phase.

Supervise staff, provide work direction, and verify/approve payroll for project team.

Communicate directly with clients, contractors, designers, and subcontractors using RF/Q/PI processes for cost, scope, staffing, scheduling, and change orders.

Collaborate with teams to execute the project management plan and document revisions via structured change order processes.

Prepare project status reports and ensure adherence to contract specifications.

Oversee all job site management activities for crews and subcontractors.

Coordinate with sales and safety professionals on training, accident investigations, and incident management.

Travel to client sites and work onsite while directing all project activities.

Develop detailed project schedules with milestones, deliverables, and dependencies based on business objectives, budgets, scope, timelines, and risks.

Facilitate weekly meetings to update on progress and resolve issues with team members, stakeholders, and executives.

Maintain project files in SharePoint for continuity and historical documentation.

Demonstrate professional conduct as a representative of MEI and align with corporate mission, vision, and values.

Supervise Project Managers and Project Engineers in the region.

Minimum Qualifications (Experience, Skills, And Education)

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, project management, industrial engineering, or related field; MBA a plus.

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is preferred.

3 to 5 years managing pharmaceutical/life‑science‐related projects.

7 to 10 years experience managing multiple projects in a production facility or industrial environment.

5+ years proven experience in machinery moving, construction, project management, or construction safety.

Familiarity with job‑site/field concepts, practices, procedures, bottlenecks, and risks.

Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Excellent interpersonal, supervisory, and project‑management skills.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Highly self‑directed and motivated; capable of leading a team or working independently.

Ability to integrate with field technicians in assembly and erection of machine tools.

Strong problem‑solving and time‑management skills.

Initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines.

Effective negotiation skills with peers around priority and design.

Conflict resolution in preliminary stages.

Regular participation and contribution to department and team meetings.

Reading and interpreting data, contracts, blueprints, schematics, and detailed plans.

Proficiency with MS Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Knowledge of SharePoint.

Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain one quickly.

Travel to project sites and stay on or near sites for extended periods.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions This is a very physical, hands‑on position. The Senior Project Manager performs general physical activities requiring substantial use of arms and legs and moving the whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, or stooping/crouching. The role may involve lifting or moving materials up to 50 pounds and frequent outdoor work with exposure to inclement weather, uneven terrain, heavy equipment, and machinery. Work may occur in non‑climate‑controlled environments with high noise levels or low‑lit areas. Frequent travel by automobile to project sites is required.
