STS Technical Services is hiring a Chief Inspector in Addison, Texas.

Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, the Chief Inspector oversees all Repair Station inspection functions and ensures full compliance with FAA regulations. This role maintains authority over quality assurance, internal audits, training, supplier oversight, and all documentation required for releasing aircraft to service. The Chief Inspector also ensures adherence to the company’s FAA Repair Station and Quality Control Manual, FAA approved Training Program Manual, and Operations Manual.

This position holds final return to service authority and serves as the primary liaison with FAA regulatory personnel.

Responsibilities

Serve as the official representative to all regulatory agencies regarding maintenance and inspection practices and procedures

Liaise and coordinate with the FAA’s assigned Principal Inspectors (PMI and PAI)

Assume responsibility for preliminary, hidden damage, in process, and final inspections of all items processed by the Repair Station

Ensure proper tagging and identification of all parts

Ensure compliance with all requirements regarding Repair Station and contract maintenance activities

Provide recommendations to the Director of Maintenance regarding company capabilities within regulatory guidelines

Develop maintenance and inspection policies and procedures in accordance with FAA requirements

Ensure all Quality Assurance functions comply with the Inspection Procedures Manual

Maintain the Capabilities List and notifications to the FSDO

Maintain the calibration system for all required tools and equipment

Ensure training programmes are compliant and that all training records are properly maintained

Oversee Quality Assurance related to aircraft airworthiness and inspection functions

Ensure adherence to all applicable Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Advisory Circulars, STCs, and PMAs, and complete all required documentation

Ensure the company does not perform work outside of its approved ratings

Maintain employee personnel files, summaries, and assessments

Recommend policy changes, training needs, and tooling requirements to the Director of Maintenance

Complete and forward Malfunction Defect Reports for all serious defects found during maintenance and inspection activities

Ensure all records of work are accurate, complete, and compliant prior to return to service

Issue Quality Assurance Inspection Stamps to qualified personnel and maintain issuance records

Ensure all required inspections are accomplished in accordance with the Approved Maintenance Program and regulatory requirements

Perform facility audits to ensure proper techniques, safety practices, and housekeeping standards are maintained

Obtain required certifications, testing, and documentation to ensure all materials received for installation meet FAA regulations

Ensure all inspection personnel are properly trained and authorized to perform assigned duties

Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum ten years of aviation experience on General Aviation aircraft

Minimum five years of experience as a Chief Inspector or Quality Supervisor in a Part 145 Repair Station

Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certificate and Inspection Authorization (IA) required

Deep and thorough knowledge of all FAA rules and regulations

Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a demanding environment

Proven ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines

Proficiency in reading, speaking, and writing English

Proficient in MS Excel, Word, email, and AD software; familiarity with Quantum MX is a plus

Additional Requirements

Must pass a drug screen and background check

Must possess a valid and current driver’s license

Work Environment

Frequent exposure to outdoor weather conditions

Occasional exposure to moving machinery, elevated work areas, fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals

Work environment may be noisy

Physical Demands

Ability to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms

Regularly required to sit, talk, or hear

Ability to frequently lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 40 pounds

Must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
