Responsibilities and Duties As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will lead and supervise staff members, participate in budgeting, scheduling and staff management. Responsibilities include:
Assume Engineer of Record role for Mechanical and Plumbing disciplines.
Provide overall direction for the MEP design team from inception to completion on a project‑specific basis.
Develop, maintain and monitor project budgets and schedules to ensure on‑time, quality, and on‑budget execution.
Design and develop HVAC and plumbing systems.
Perform and verify load calculations for HVAC and plumbing systems.
Perform CA tasks, review submittals/shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and attend CA meetings.
Conduct site visits to evaluate field installations and conduct field observations.
Manage assigned projects, including coordination and/or direction for the design team.
Plan, schedule and coordinate detailed phases of assigned project work while maintaining quality standards.
Lead design and construction meetings.
Mentor junior team members and assign duties to design staff.
Provide periodic objective and comprehensive employee check‑ins in support of Annual Performance Reviews.
Prepare and monitor contracts, fee proposals and contract negotiations.
Collaborate with Business Development to build relationships and foster repeat work.
Qualification Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering.
Current Professional Engineering License.
Minimum of 5 years as a Licensed Professional Engineer.
Ability to obtain Professional Licensure in the State of Texas.
10+ years of MEP design experience, specifically in Municipal/Aviation, Education, Healthcare and Commercial Office sectors.
7+ years of hands‑on MEP design experience.
3+ years of project management experience.
3+ years of supervisory experience directly over an MEP design team.
