We are recruiting a Substance Use Counselor for our Outpatient MAT Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) at Providence Comprehensive Treatment Center (CTC) in Providence, RI, part of Acadia Healthcare. The role focuses on delivering medication‑assisted treatment (MAT) and evidence‑based counseling to patients with Opioid Use Disorder.
Full‑Time Schedule
Monday – Friday, 5:30 AM – 2:00 PM (early‑morning schedule to support work‑life balance)
Key Responsibilities
Lead individual and group counseling sessions with compassion and professionalism.
Design, manage, and document treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments.
Facilitate group or family therapy sessions as required.
Document patient care, progress, and incidents in a timely manner.
Coordinate after‑care plans to support long‑term recovery.
Provide immediate crisis intervention services when needed.
Serve as a liaison between patients and referral sources.
Required Education, Skills, and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, or a related health services field from an accredited institution.
Previous experience in addiction recovery or behavioral health settings (outpatient, residential, or correctional).
Familiarity with MAT (methadone, buprenorphine, naltrexone).
Experience conducting individual and group counseling focused on substance‑use recovery.
Knowledge of evidence‑based practices such as CBT, MI, and relapse prevention.
Documentation experience per state and federal guidelines.
Understanding of state regulatory standards (42 CFR Part 2, HIPAA, Joint Commission).
Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Licenses / Certifications
LCDP, LICSW, CADC, or CAADC.
