The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field‑based scientist who expands the Medical Affairs organization’s reach by building relationships with medical thought leaders and providing scientific support across the therapeutic portfolio.

Overview This role covers

Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, and South Dakota

and requires a professional with established credibility in oncology. The MSL functions as a trusted scientific resource, communicates clinical insights to internal departments, and supports the execution of the U.S. Medical Plan.

KOL Development and Field Engagement

Identify and develop peer‑to‑peer relationships with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and healthcare providers within oncology.

Develop and execute territory plans in alignment with U.S. Medical Affairs plans.

Identify and communicate key clinical and research insights from KOLs to appropriate departments.

Participate in medical education for healthcare professionals through on‑site presentations, investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, or regional meetings.

Provide scientific support for additional activities such as medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives.

Scientific Expertise and Support

Maintain up‑to‑date high‑level knowledge of the therapy area, Jazz products, emerging research, and competitive landscape.

Establish reputation as a trustworthy source of scientific and medical information for the healthcare community.

Support Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ positioning as a scientific authority in oncology through attendance at regional, national, and local KOL activities.

Provide clinical presentations and information in response to unsolicited questions in group or one‑to‑one settings.

Communicate emerging data and clinical experience with our products through objective scientific exchange.

Assist with medical congress staffing, advisory boards, and sales training initiatives.

Medical Affairs Planning and Execution

Contribute to the development of the U.S. Medical Plan and provide input into local strategies and tactics.

Manage relevant budget to enable execution of Medical Plan tactics as part of the broader Medical Affairs team.

Collaborate with cross‑functional colleagues to ensure a Key Account Management approach.

Act as a scientific resource to support activities aligned with the Medical Plan, including advisory boards, speaker development, and clinical trials.

Preferred

Knowledge of local geography, healthcare environment, and external experts.

Demonstrated ability to develop trust and relationships with opinion leaders.

Understanding of regulatory requirements for field‑based personnel.

Required / Preferred Education and Licenses

Advanced degree (PharmD, MD, PhD, or equivalent) with 3–5 years’ oncology experience.

Licensed RN, NP, CNP, PA, or equivalent with a Master’s Degree and 5+ years’ oncology experience.

Minimum 2 years as an MSL or comparable clinical/industry role.

Experience as an MSL with solid tumors and/or molecular diagnostics highly preferred.

Willingness to travel 60–70% of the time.

Valid driver’s license and live within 60 miles of a major airport.

Physical Demands

Frequent travel between meeting sites.

Regular computer, printer, and telephone use.

Work Environment

Interaction with external contacts in office settings with limited exposure to excessive noise, dust, or vibration.

Frequent use of laptop or tablet, usually outside a fixed workstation.

Work schedule may include non‑standard hours to meet business demands.

Public contact requiring appropriate business apparel.

For U.S. Based Candidates Only Base pay range: $154,400.00 – $231,600.00. Total compensation may include discretionary annual cash bonus, incentive compensation, and equity grants. Benefits include medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k), and flexible paid vacation. For more information, see
