About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Chief Estimator to lead our Estimating Department and oversee all concrete and masonry estimating operations. This is a key upper‑management position responsible for driving bidding strategy, ensuring accurate and competitive estimates, and leading a team of six Junior Estimators. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise, strong leadership, and a strategic mindset to support continued company growth. Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Estimating Department, including mentoring and developing a team of six Junior Estimators. Oversee all concrete and masonry project estimates from initial review through final submission. Review plans, specifications, and project documents to produce accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates. Utilize Bluebeam and other estimating/takeoff software to perform detailed plan analysis. Develop and implement estimating procedures, best practices, and departmental improvements. Collaborate with operations, project management, and executive leadership to align estimating strategy with company goals. Review bid proposals for accuracy, completeness, and profitability. Maintain strong relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, and industry partners. Provide guidance on cost trends, labor rates, material pricing, and market conditions. Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Concrete and/or Masonry Estimating (required). Strong background in plan reading, blueprint interpretation, and construction documents. Proficiency with Bluebeam and other digital takeoff/estimating software. Prior experience in a supervisory or management role; ability to lead and develop an estimating team. Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and market pricing. Preferred Attributes
Proven success leading large or complex bids. Experience improving departmental processes or implementing new systems. High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strategic thinking. Additional Skills
