The
Ocean Traffic Coordinator
plays a critical role in managing and optimizing the flow of full container load and less container load shipments within the logistics operations. This position is responsible for coordinating shipments, ensuring timely and accurate documentation, and liaising with carriers, customers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth transportation processes. The coordinator will monitor shipment statuses, resolve any issues that arise during transit, and maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies. By effectively managing traffic operations, the role directly contributes to customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the Ocean Traffic Coordinator ensures that all FCL and LCL shipments are executed seamlessly from origin to destination, supporting the company’s business objectives and service commitments.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
Minimum of 2 years experience in logistics, freight coordination, or a related field.
Familiarity with FCL and LCL shipping processes and terminology.
Proficiency in using transportation management systems, EEI filling and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Experience working in ocean and air freight in international shipping environments.
Knowledge of customs regulations and import/export compliance.
Ability to speak Spanish or other languages relevant to the shipping industry.
Certification in logistics or freight forwarding (e.g., Certified Logistics Associate or similar).
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and schedule full container load (FCL) and less container load (LCL) shipments, ensuring timely pick-up and delivery.
Communicate with carriers, freight forwarders, and customers to confirm shipment details and resolve any logistical issues.
Prepare, review, and process all necessary shipping documentation, including bills of lading and customs paperwork when required.
Track shipments throughout the transportation cycle and provide status updates to relevant party.
Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, operations, and customer service to optimize shipment flow and address any discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with all applicable transportation regulations and company policies.
Identify and escape potential delays or problems to management promptly.
Maintain accurate records of shipments, costs, and carrier performance for reporting and analysis.
