Job Summary Lead execution of retrofit projects, including installation, power‑up and commissioning of turbine control solutions (Mark V, Mark VI, Mark Vie) integrated with gas turbines, steam turbines, compressors, HMI upgrades, and TIL implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Lead execution of retrofit projects, including installation, power‑up, and commissioning of turbine control solutions.
Execute site project management and technical leadership duties; support warranty administration and troubleshoot issues.
Provide customer service support and lead issue resolution during warranty and post‑warranty periods.
Pre‑plan, schedule, field engineer, oversee and direct other field resources, commission, control system start‑up, and handover to customers.
Collaborate with project managers, customers, and supplier representatives to ensure financial performance, quality installation, timeliness, and satisfaction.
Respond to customer call‑out service requests.
Manage relationships with customers, partners, and suppliers during installation, commissioning, and startup phases.
Ensure timely completion of service time sheets, trip reports, invoicing packages, and other admin requirements including pre‑mobilization and de‑mobilization procedures.
Coordinate with other functions to identify and register change‑order opportunities, review proposals for new opportunities, and present GE solutions to customers.
Interface with GE Power Services, GE Industrial, and other GE businesses.
Travel and overtime as required.
Other duties as required, including participation in FAT, development of controls strategy, design of hardware and software configuration packages, operator interface graphics, network topologies, and release of system design to manufacturing.
Qualifications / Requirements
Industrial automation, electrical, or electronic engineering degree (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of industry experience).
4+ years of field engineering experience in power generation, industrial plant automation, DCS, PLC, or similar sectors.
Ability to troubleshoot control and instrumentation systems at all levels.
Immediate credibility with customers, suppliers, and GE project management/engineering communities.
Strong customer focus, interpersonal, and computer skills.
Ability to multi‑task in a dynamic, geographically dispersed team environment.
Extensive application/design knowledge in at least one of the following: steam turbine control, combustion turbine control, hydro turbine, excitation and generator protection systems, BOP systems, or equipment installation in these technologies.
Effective written and oral communication skills with excellent English.
Customer‑focused skills demonstrated by experience in field services, customer services, or project management.
Valid driver’s license and passport (or ability to obtain).
Eligibility Requirements
Willingness to travel up to 80% domestically, including international sites.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb 10 flights of stairs twice per day.
Pass respirator fit test and physical screening.
Pass fitness‑for‑duty requirements and site security procedures for unescorted access.
Work under high‑stress conditions.
Work in radiation‑controlled and radioactively contaminated areas.
Work 12‑hour days and 7 days per week when required for project delivery.
Operate in hot or cold environments, confined spaces, or at heights.
Valid driver’s license and passport.
Desired Characteristics
Previous industrial field service experience.
Controls experience with prime mover equipment.
Electronics and/or mechanical troubleshooting skills.
Computer skills – familiarity with MS Office, TCP/IP configuration.
Learning ability for HMI and application tools (Cimplicity, Intellution, Toolbox, GAP, etc.).
Prior mechanical/maintenance experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
Self‑starter with minimal supervision; prioritizes and meets deadlines.
Ability to set and meet aggressive goals.
Minimum 1 year of nuclear experience.
