Senior Tax Associate
CyberCoders is a top 50 CPA firm with over 100 years of experience, serving 300 employees across three Chicago offices and remote locations. We offer competitive salaries ranging from $85,000 to $110,000+ (DOE) with flexible work arrangements.
Responsibilities
Identify and assess the strengths and weaknesses of clients' income, sales/use, and property tax functions.
Deliver a full range of tax planning, consulting, and compliance services to clients.
Perform tax research, prepare technical memorandums, and draft client correspondence.
Manage SALT engagements from start to finish.
Develop multistate taxability and/or exemption matrices.
Provide audit defense to reduce clients' income tax and sales and use tax assessments, assist with appeals, and represent companies at hearings.
Evaluate clients' current sales tax practices through reverse sales tax audits and filing refunds.
Perform state and local tax compliance reviews and assist clients with state and local tax controversies.
Assist clients with any needed voluntary income tax and sales tax disclosures.
Build relationships with current clients to create and support client business development efforts of SALT services.
Facilitate SALT workshops for potential clients.
Work with other members of the SALT Group to identify and develop additional services/products to offer clients.
Pursue educational opportunities to stay on the cutting edge of SALT changes.
Engage in ongoing personal development in line with the growth and development strategy.
Qualifications
3+ years of previous experience in a public accounting firm.
SALT experience for C‑Corps, S‑Corps, Partnerships and other flow‑through entities.
Strong technical knowledge and skills.
Problem‑solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated ability to provide feedback to less experienced team members.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient use of computer applications such as MS Office and accounting software.
Strong knowledge of firm products and services in the practice area and a working knowledge of products and services in other practice areas.
Strong tax accounting skills.
Strong knowledge of multistate sales tax.
Knowledge of corporate income tax preparation.
