New College Grad - CAD/Computer Engineer, Central Engineering
Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Department Introduction Micron’s CAD/EDA Engineering team builds and supports the software tools and design flows that enable world‑class CMOS integrated circuit development for DRAM, HBM, and emerging memory. We partner closely with design, layout, verification, modeling, and process teams to deliver robust, high‑performance silicon with efficient, scalable verification methodologies.
Position Overview As a Computer Engineer (CAD/EDA – Physical Verification), you will develop, support, and improve EDA tools and flows for design, physical layout, and verification. In this fast‑paced production support role, you will build and maintain physical verification rule decks, evaluate industry tools, and collaborate across global teams to ensure quality, performance, and efficiency in Micron’s design pipelines.
Responsibilities
Develop physical verification tools, flows, and methodologies for next‑generation DRAM, HBM, and emerging memory designs.
Build, maintain, and validate DRC/LVS rule decks; guide design teams on physical verification procedures and checks.
Collaborate with design, layout, verification, modeling, and process teams to define and implement product development and verification strategies.
Evaluate and integrate EDA industry offerings (e.g., Cadence, Calibre) to improve quality, throughput, and efficiency.
Debug and enhance in‑house and commercial EDA tools and automation for layout and verification workflows.
Document standards, develop automation scripts, and contribute to continuous improvement of CAD/EDA processes.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
Strong Python programming fundamentals; ability to write clean, maintainable code for EDA automation.
Unix/Linux proficiency; experience with shell scripting.
Clear, concise communication skills and demonstrated problem‑solving ability.
Growth mindset with an ambitious drive to learn, develop new skills, and self‑improve.
Preferred Qualifications
Direct experience developing DRC/LVS rule decks and physical verification flows.
Knowledge of CMOS circuit design, layout, and verification principles.
Hands‑on experience with IC design CAD tools (schematics, layout, simulation, verification).
Familiarity with Cadence (Virtuoso/Innovus) and Calibre (DRC/LVS) EDA tools.
Experience supporting production EDA environments and collaborating with multi‑functional silicon teams.
Benefits Micron benefits are designed to help you stay well, provide peace of mind and help you prepare for the future. We offer a choice of medical, dental and vision plans in all locations, enabling team members to select the plans that best meet their family healthcare needs and budget. Micron also provides benefit programs that help protect your income if you are unable to work due to illness or injury, and paid family leave. Additionally, Micron benefits include a robust paid time‑off program and paid holidays.
