Senior Engineering Manager - Workday Financials (HYBRID) Join us at

in a hybrid role where you will lead the Workday Financials technology team and drive the development of innovative engineering solutions that support our transformation strategy.

Base Pay Range $140,000.00 – $300,000.00 per year

Location This is a hybrid role working locally out of one of the following hubs:

Palo Alto, CA

Dallas, TX

Chevy Chase / Bethesda, MD

Position Responsibilities

Define strategy and manage a roadmap that aligns with stakeholders' needs for the Workday Financials system.

Provide technical direction and organizational leadership for a team of Engineers who design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain Workday Financials systems.

Present a vision and strategic recommendations with clarity and concision to stakeholders with varying degrees of technology fluency.

Build and nurture a high‑performing technology team, providing mentorship, coaching, and guidance to foster a culture of continuous learning.

Champion the implementation of engineering quality to include unit testing, automation testing, security testing, among others.

Work closely with the GEICO Finance organization to manage, innovate, and create new programs, direction and analytics that balance and improve the associate experience.

Foster effective collaboration and communication across teams to align priorities, share best practices, and ensure smooth coordination for incident response, system maintenance, and upgrades.

Manage resource allocation, vendor relationships, and optimize costs to maintain high‑quality outcomes.

Qualifications

Proven experience in a technology leadership role implementing Workday Financials systems at a large enterprise.

Deep knowledge of Workday development tools (Enterprise Interface Builder, Workday Studio, Workday Report Writer, BIRT, Workday Cloud Platform – Extend and Orchestrate).

Experience architecting and implementing new and existing Workday Financial systems.

Leading the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of solutions for complex integrations.

Familiarity with cloud security best practices and compliance standards.

Experience deploying applications in Azure, AWS or similar public cloud environments.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate to both senior leadership and highly technical personnel.

Proactive problem‑solving skills and the ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.

Ability to prioritize and balance multiple assignments across the team and engage team members effectively.

Strategic impact mindset and clear understanding of how projects interrelate.

Strong analytical abilities and a passion for driving operational efficiency and automation.

Experience with strategic planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and vendor collaboration.

Outstanding leadership and team‑management skills with a passion for mentoring and fostering professional growth.

Experience

10+ years of ERP software architecture and implementation/coding experience with 6+ years specifically with Workday Financials.

5+ years of leadership and management of development teams.

5+ years of development in a large‑scale, mission‑critical environment.

3+ years of experience with automated testing (Unit, Integration, End‑to‑End functional testing).

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience.

Annual Salary $140,000.00 – $300,000.00 per year. The actual compensation will consider role scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education, and market and business factors.
