We’re seeking a future team member for the role of Vice President, Product Owner to join our Wealth Services Platform team. In this role, as part of BNY Pershing’s Wealth Services Data Group, you’ll own, design, develop and manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of data products and data platforms that enable scalable, secure, and insightful services for our clients. This role is located in New York, NY or in Jersey City, NJ.
In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:
Drive the vision, strategy, and execution of data‑centric products that empower financial advisors and institutional clients.
Define product vision, strategy, and roadmap spanning across party and account reference data, reporting, securities data and a gamut of data products/services in alignment with business goals and stakeholder needs.
Foster cross‑functional collaboration and ensure delivery of high‑impact solutions aligned with business objectives and client needs.
Manage prioritize product backlog, collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements, and working closely with development team to ensure the successful delivery of the product.
Write specs for minor features and contribute meaningfully to major features.
Negotiate the implementation of current work, make the right trade‑off decisions to launch products in a high‑quality manner. Escalating to management as necessary.
Identify and triage issues with specific features, whilst understanding how multiple features are interrelated and catch more complex problems.
Define proper measurement and instrumentation for a product to analyze results post‑release/launch.
Partner with manager to make recommendations on the right next steps for the feature.
Assess the quality of existing UX to make recommendations on how to improve user experience.
Champion technical delivery for data products, e.g. managing integration with cloud platforms, data warehouses, and analytics solutions.
Ensure data governance, privacy, and security standards are embedded into product design and delivery.
To be successful in this role, we’re seeking the following:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in product ownership, with strongly preferred background in data‑related products in the financial services or financial technology domain.
3+ years of experience in financial services industry.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), Agile) are highly valued.
Strategic mindset with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
Proficiency in data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure, AWS), data pipelines, and cloud technologies.
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, SQL, or equivalent for data manipulation and analysis.
Understanding of data governance, privacy, and industry best practices in financial services.
Experience with agile methodologies, product management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence), and data visualization platforms.
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Curiosity and drive for continuous learning and improvement.
Possesses a “get‑it‑done” attitude – ability to get around roadblocks and stay focused on the vision.
Organized, resourceful, and able to prioritize tasks.
Interested in constantly learning new tools and technologies and a passion to share your knowledge with the team.

BNY assesses market data to ensure a competitive compensation package for our employees. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $68,000 and $155,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short‑ and long‑term incentive packages, and Company‑sponsored benefit programs.
