Physician Hematology‑Oncology – U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
Pay Range $290,000.00/yr - $400,000.00/yr
Summary This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 30, 2026. The initial cut‑off date for referral of eligible applications and subsequent cut‑off dates are on the 1st of each month. Eligible applications received after that date will be referred at regular intervals or as additional vacancies occur on an as‑needed basis until positions are filled.
Qualifications
United States Citizenship
– Non‑citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
Medical Degree
– Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree from a school approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.
License
– Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a U.S. State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.
Residency Training
– Completion of an accredited core specialty program leading to eligibility for board certification. Approved residencies include ACGME‑ or AOA‑accredited programs, or other recognized programs followed by a minimum of five years of verified U.S. practice.
Resident Providers (PRPs)
– Residents enrolled in accredited residency programs who meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers. PRPs must be fully licensed physicians, may be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis, and are not considered independent practitioners.
English Proficiency
– Proficient in spoken and written English.

Physical Requirements
– Eligible applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Duties
Provide comprehensive care in the inpatient and/or outpatient setting, including diagnosis, treatment, follow‑up, and education of patients with oncologic conditions.
Complete documentation and coding of visits accurately to ensure proper time and care.
Evalue, triage, and prioritize oncology consult requests to ensure timely care.
Conduct telemedicine visits for patients in outlying clinics.
Perform administrative tasks such as peer reviews, compensation and pension evaluations, and ongoing professional practice evaluations.
Coordinate care at VA or non‑VA referral centers for patients requiring services not provided at the facility.
Attend staff meetings and serve on committees, process improvement teams, and workgroups as requested.
Complete CME and mandatory VA trainings, including HIPAA Privacy and Security, in a timely manner.
Work schedule: Monday‑Friday, 8:00 am‑4:30 pm (subject to change).
