Description UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization, recognized by the National Institute of Nursing Quality and Excellence for nursing excellence. The organization has held its Magnet status since 2011.

The nurse will practice autonomously in accordance with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Under general supervision, the nurse identifies and implements nursing interventions and evaluates results for a variety of patient populations. The nurse directs and serves as a resource to other nursing team members, promotes compliance with policies, and builds trust in professional collegial relationships.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.

Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of California.

BLS/CPR and ACLS certifications at time of hire with commitment to obtain ART within six (6) months of hire date.

PALS certification.

Minimum two (2) years of Emergency Room RN experience (within the past three years).

Proven nursing clinical skills to identify and implement nursing interventions and evaluate results for Emergency Room patients.

Must be able to function in a fast‑paced environment, have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and consistently demonstrate empathy and kindness to all staff and patients.

Must be able to work within a busy team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

BSN.

Relevant specialty certification (e.g., CEN, TNCC, etc.).

Three (3) or more years of recent Emergency Room RN experience is highly preferred.

Special Conditions

Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.

Must be able to work various hours, days, shifts, on‑call and locations based on the 24‑hour Medical Center’s business needs.

Selected candidate may be hired at the CNIII level pending review and approval by the Nurse Executive Council.

Pay Transparency Annual Full Pay Range: $131,335 - $184,078 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%).

Hourly Equivalent: $62.90 - $88.16.

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.

Certification Requirements If applicable, life‑support certifications (BLS, NRP, ACLS, etc.) must include hands‑on practice and in‑person skills assessment; online‑only certification is not acceptable.
