Job Description:
Ruttkowski 68, a leading international contemporary art gallery, is seeking a flex‑time Sales Director / Associate Sales Director to join its Tribeca team. The position offers significant independence and flexibility—success is measured by results, not hours—and requires someone who can drive sales, cultivate strong collector relationships, and represent Ruttkowski;68’s distinct voice in the global market. This role is ideal for an experienced gallery sales professional who values flexibility and can hit the ground running with a proven track record.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Sales & Client Development — Drive sales for R;68, developing and maintaining strong relationships with collectors and advisors.
Exhibition Sales — Sales outreach and follow‑up for current/recent/upcoming global exhibitions, coordinating previews, viewings, and pre‑and post‑sale communication.
Ongoing Sales — Actively promote works and commissions by gallery artists between exhibitions to sustain year‑round momentum and visibility.
Team Collaboration — Work closely with the Partner to align commercial priorities; collaborate with the Director and the Gallery Manager for effective teamwork and seamless collector experience; understand artists’ practices to best represent their work in the market.
Gallery Ambassador — Serve as a confident and visible ambassador for R;68 across openings, client visits, and cultural events.
Qualifications:
Minimum 5 years of experience in gallery sales within the primary contemporary art market.
Proven track record of independently closing sales and meeting individual sales targets.
Established network of collectors and advisors, and the ability to cultivate new relationships.
Excellent communication and follow‑through, with meticulous attention to detail.
Collaborative and professional — able to work seamlessly across a small, high‑performing team.
Stylish, culturally fluent, and attuned to the intersections of art, music, and fashion that define Ruttkowski 68’s identity.
