This includes not only having strong communication and relational skills with prospective students, families, and College stakeholders, but also understanding the data management and fiscal components that come with enrollment management. The new VPEM will be expected to continue the College’s current trend of enrollment growth using enrollment management skills to design tailored recruitment plans for first year, transfer, international and graduate learners, using the College’s recent strategic plan and Progressive Promise for all as a basis.

The campus sits on 800 acres, plus the adjacent 200‑acre land preserve, sits nestled in the Swannanoa River valley, less than ten miles outside of Asheville, North Carolina. Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, Asheville, with its 95,000 residents, has become known for its resilience, agriculture, technology, and innovative climate solutions, along with its arts and culture scene.

Since his arrival in 2023, the College raised $20 million in gifts over just 18 months, including the largest single gift in the College’s history: $10 million. President Fernández also oversaw the launch of pioneering programs like a low‑residency Master of Science in Applied Climate Studies, a BA/BS in Animal Science, and the Nielsen Student Scholars in the Humanities.

Required Qualifications for the VPEM include:

Applications should include as separate documents, a CV or resume, a detailed letter of interest addressing the candidate’s professional experiences given the expectations of the position and a list of three professional references with contact information and a brief description explaining the working relationship of each (references will not be contacted until the semi‑finalist stage of the search).
