The Reinsurance Accounting Analyst will leverage existing month end close, reconciliation, and Account Payable/Receivable knowledge, combined with an interest to learn a complex new industry to contribute on preparation of complex journal entries, reinsurance settlements, and reconciliation. The candidate will build subject matter expertise in Facultative Reinsurance & reinsurance settlements with the support of the team. Process Improvement and Ownership: This position will support in the application of reinsurance agreements, settlement process, internal controls, and lead process improvement efforts. What will you do:

Perform monthly and or quarterly closing procedures related to accounting for the reinsurance transactions, reconciliations, and analyses. Compile and analyze monthly and quarterly financial information from other departments to ensure completeness and accuracy. Maintain effective internal controls, support internal and external audits, and regulatory examinations. Develop and implement standard reinsurance accounting models, with emphasis on efficient reconciliation to the General Ledger; lead process improvements and automation efforts related to monthly close processing. Build new and sustainable processes for booking and settling reinsurance. Responsible for appropriate and timely analysis, processing, billing, and collection with reinsurance partners, act as one of the points of contact for reinsurance intermediaries and reinsurers. Become a reinsurance agreement subject matter expert across the full life cycle of the contract. Perform reinsurance collateral analysis through partnership with internal and external stakeholders. What we are looking for:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience. 1-3 years of relevant accounting or finance experience within a property & casualty insurance environment. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) eligible or designation, preferred. Advanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word).
