Job Summary IE Tech is seeking an experiencedAutomation and Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technicianto join our team. In this role, you’ll ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems across our operations. The ideal candidate has a strong background in troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing industrial control systems—including PLCs, SCADA, and electrical components—while upholding the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and repair automation, instrumentation, and electrical systems to ensure reliability and compliance with industry standards.

Troubleshoot and optimize PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, SCADA systems, and industrial control networks.

Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on I&E systems at well sites, central facilities, and industrial locations.

Calibrate and configure field instruments such as pressure, flow, level, and temperature transmitters.

Conduct loop checks and logic verification during commissioning of new systems.

Read and interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control diagrams.

Verify automation logic executes as defined in cause-and-effect documentation.

Collaborate with engineering, operations, and fellow technicians to improve automation performance and reliability.

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and technical activities.

Provide on-call and emergency support as required.

Adhere to safety practices and ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, NEC, NFPA 70E, and company policies.

Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs while maintaining safety and reliability.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, with occasional on-call or emergency response duties outside of standard hours.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Technical degree preferred.

3+ years of experience in automation, instrumentation, or electrical maintenance preferred.

Strong knowledge of PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), SCADA systems, and industrial networking.

Experience with motor controls, VFDs (Allen-Bradley, ABB), and PID loop tuning.

Understanding of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet/IP, etc.).

Proficient with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Word).

Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings and manuals.

Proven troubleshooting and analytical skills.

Working knowledge of electrical codes and safety standards (NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA).

Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 10% annually.

Physically able to: climb ladders and stairs up to 50 feet, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, work outdoors in various weather conditions, work independently most of the time, wear required PPE and respond to unscheduled overtime when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Journeyman Electrician License, ISA Certification, or OEM-specific PLC training.

Experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, or Water/Wastewater industries.

Familiarity with DCS and advanced automation solutions.

Intermediate understanding of the National Electric Code (NEC).

Experience using test instruments and SCADA software applications.

Demonstrated reliability, integrity, and accountability.

Strong record of safety and timely, effective work execution.
