Tax Manager – Financial Services Organization – Captive Insurance
Join EY as a Tax Manager focusing on captive insurance tax engagements.
Work with clients across Banking, Capital Markets, Wealth, Asset Management, Insurance, and Real Estate, Hospitality and Construction to deliver dynamic captive insurance tax consulting, tax compliance, and feasibility studies.
Location Anywhere in Country.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee the preparation and delivery of captive insurance tax consulting memos and tax opinions.
Develop and lead captive insurance feasibility studies, providing detailed commentary on tax implications.
Perform financial statement audits and review tax returns.
Manage client relationships, including building effective relationships, managing engagement staff and economics, and analyzing engagement results to improve client service.
Lead a team of professionals, ensuring high‑quality work and mentoring junior staff.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 5 years of tax experience.
CPA or licensed attorney required.
Strong knowledge of ASC 740 and SSAP 101.
Income tax support for audits and experience with insurance and C‑Corporation tax.
At least 5 years preparing 1120, 1120‑PC, 1120‑L and consolidated group returns; review experience mandatory.
Experience with OneSource and/or Corptax environments.
Experience with captive insurance companies is a bonus.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of how captive insurance companies operate.
Direct experience in state and local taxation (state return compliance, state income tax accounting, state apportionment fundamentals).
Self‑motivation, critical thinking, ability to build a professional network and to lead a team.
Drive to discover new business opportunities with clients.
What We Offer
Competitive compensation: base salary range $103,600–$189,900 (US); $124,300–$215,800 for NYC, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento). Additional benefits include medical, dental, pension and 401(k) plans, and generous paid time off.
Hybrid work model: most external client‑serving roles work in‑person 40‑60% of the time.
