Director, Quality Assurance – Quest Diagnostics

Job Summary Ensures consistency with laboratory requirements, oversees quality assessment programs, and manages compliance with CLIA, state regulations, CAP, and other accrediting agencies.
Responsibilities
Oversee performance of all clinical labs and regional reference labs.
Provide technical analysis of QA/QC results per CLIA, CAP, and state standards.
Audit QA/QC systems, formulate corrective actions, and track progress.
Collaborate with regional medical director and administrators to implement new quality systems.
Develop objectives with Lab Operations to maximize test reliability and minimize cost.
Apply quality‑management tools across pre‑analytical, analytical, and post‑analytical processes.
Monitor QA goals and standards per state, federal, and local regulations.
Lead quality processes for the West Region under the regional medical director.
Ensure accountability of all Quest sites, including RRLs, for quality processes.
Ensure all regional sites obtain and retain appropriate licenses and accreditation.
Coach, mentor, and motivate direct reports (20 people).
Licensing and Accreditation
Develop auditing process for all regional sites to satisfy state, federal, local, and CAP requirements.
Work with local RRL and QA managers, medical directors, HR, and regional VPs to ensure appropriate licensing and accreditation.
Qualifications
Ten years of successful employment in a QA role.
Experience in quality assurance, statistical QC, and laboratory regulations/accreditation.
Experience managing complex programs with measurable outcomes.
5+ years hands‑on experience as a medical technologist.
Minimum five years of management experience.
Demonstrated success motivating teams to reach objectives.
