Senior IT Business Consultant (Information Security Engineer) Location:

Florida Department of Environmental Protection – Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) Position Overview:
A highly technical role serving as the department’s information security engineer. The incumbent reports to the Information Security Manager and leads operational security initiatives to continually improve the agency’s security posture. Responsibilities
Maintain and update the department’s incident response plans and procedures in compliance with Florida state standards, ensuring security requirements are integrated into change control, protecting physical and virtual environments, and reviewing IAM and security standards. Assist the Information Security Manager by developing and executing an enterprise‑wide security program, conducting risk assessments, performing investigations with law‑enforcement partners, and supporting the IT Security Strategic Plan. Review and modify identity and access management policies and firewall rules, providing oversight of access requests and responding to security incidents. Monitor e‑mail filtering and spam controls, maintain cryptographic standards, and recommend secure technologies for CJIS and cloud‑based infrastructures. Evaluate desktop and server patching, conduct vulnerability and malware analysis, and develop training plans for staff. Perform audit and governance tasks, including risk assessments, audits, and other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Superior verbal and written communication; strong collaboration skills. 3+ years of enterprise cybersecurity experience, including incident response and audit participation. Experience with Active Directory, cloud architecture, IAM policy design, and enterprise security solutions. Knowledge of network security, vulnerability analysis, cyber threat landscape, and disaster recovery. Hands‑on troubleshooting of security events on Windows endpoints and servers, and malware containment. Valid driver’s license and travel availability as needed. Minimum Qualifications
3 years of enterprise cybersecurity work experience. Experience in cybersecurity incident response and IT audit participation. Experience with Active Directory and cloud architecture. Valid Driver’s License. Special Trust
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust and requires successful background screening. Pay
$65,000 – $68,340 Benefits
Annual and Sick Leave; nine paid holidays and one Personal Holiday. Health, life, dental, vision, and other supplemental insurance options under the State Group Insurance Coverage. Retirement plans with employer contributions (details at myfrs.com). Work Environment
