Basic Qualifications

As a

Materials and Processes Engineer

you will be engaged with work on a broad range of projects in both a laboratory and manufacturing environment that will challenge you to learn and grow in your career.

Working side by side with designers, test, and manufacturing engineers, you’ll use your education and experience to develop and evaluate new and innovative technology that can survive in the most hostile of environments.

In this role you will:

Select Materials, and Processes (M & P) on new designs, get hands‑on manufacturing experience, and/or provide oversight to an extensive supply chain providing products critical to Mission Success

Perform Materials and Processes (M&P) technical engineering assignments

Troubleshoot problems and find innovative solutions

Participate in the selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of materials & processes; prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks; prepare specifications; and evaluate suppliers and analyze test reports

Coordinate with other disciplines such as Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Procurement

Someone with the ability to handle shifting priorities, multiple projects and timeline pressure to meet deadlines

Desired Skills

Experience with general aerospace materials and processes

Experience with technical requirements, including material and process specifications, program requirements, plans, and other relevant documentation.

Understanding of material properties definitions

Material Science & Engineering, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering B.S. Desired

Good writing, communication and interpersonal skills

Active or Current Top Secret Security clearance

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education / training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
