Martin/Martin, Inc. is looking for a mid-level structural engineer to join our Investigative Engineering Group in our Larkspur, CA office. Typical projects include engineering support for building renovations/repairs, concrete repair, fall protection systems, façade access systems, building envelope systems, expert witness work, and non‑destructive testing. The position focuses on providing engineering services for renovation, restoration, retrofit, and repair projects for existing structures. Work will include meeting with clients, developing reports, and producing engineering deliverables as defined by the particular project needs.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and perform investigations with in‑house staff and clients
Engage with clients and contractors as the primary point of contact throughout the project life cycle
Manage and collaborate with engineering and technician staff to produce high‑quality project documentation using computer design and graphics software programs
Develop, monitor, and manage project work plans, schedules, and design budgets
Build lasting relationships with clients through project work and business development activities
Develop design recommendations for projects
Assemble construction drawings, write and edit specifications, and follow project‑specific QA/QC plans
Working Conditions & Skills:
Move inside or outside the office and on non‑ADA accessible construction sites
Remain stationary for long periods of time
Perform repetitive movements such as using a keyboard or mouse
Carry, ascend, and descend a ladder
Identify color and read, communicate, and document in English
Determine and exchange accurate information
Occasionally move or hold equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
Work in atypical environments and small, confined spaces
Required Qualifications:
Registered Professional Engineer
Completed 4 years of progressive engineering experience
Exhibits effective communication and technical skills
Desired Qualifications:
Completed 6–8 years of progressive engineering experience
Followed multiple engineering projects from the start of design to completion of construction
Demonstrates a strong desire for continued professional development
Participating member of professional and/or technical societies
