POSITION OVERVIEW Fidelity National Financial (FNF) is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to join our in‑house litigation team in Los Angeles, California. This role focuses on managing and litigating title insurance, escrow, and real property‑related claims on behalf of FNF and its family of companies. The attorney will handle matters throughout Southern California, supported by an experienced internal staff, and will work directly with some of the largest title insurance underwriters, escrow companies, and financial institutions in the country. This is a unique in‑house opportunity with no billing requirements, allowing you to focus exclusively on strategy, case outcomes, and efficient claims resolution.

LOCATION

This position is based in Los Angeles, California, operating in a hybrid schedule with two in‑office days per week. Travel is required throughout Southern California for court appearances, hearings, depositions, and other litigation activities.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Handle in‑house litigation for FNF claims, managing cases from initial evaluation through trial.

Represent FNF and its subsidiaries in a broad range of real property, title insurance, escrow, and related civil litigation matters.

Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other litigation documents.

Conduct and defend depositions, argue motions, appear at hearings, and prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, or trial.

Analyze claim files, assess exposure, and develop litigation strategies aligned with business and claims objectives.

Collaborate closely with claims counsel, underwriting teams, and other internal stakeholders.

Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, courts, and opposing counsel.

Utilize dedicated support staff and internal resources to advance case strategy and promote efficient file handling.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.

Prior civil litigation experience with courtroom appearances.

Trial experience or significant hands‑on litigation responsibility.

Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.

Ability to travel throughout Southern California for hearings, depositions, and trials.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Litigation experience involving real property, title insurance, escrow disputes, lien priority, quiet title actions, or foreclosure‑related matters.

Background in bankruptcy litigation or adversary proceedings.

Familiarity with claims handling or insurance defense work, especially within a title insurance environment.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS This position has the potential to earn compensation in the range of $150,000 - $190,000 annually based on location and job‑related factors such as skill set and experience. Actual rate may vary within the range provided, depending on a number of factors, including skill set, experience and location. Higher salary may be available if candidates have substantial relevant experience. The base compensation is one component of the total rewards package offered to our employees, including optional health and welfare insurance (medical/dental/vision/life/disability); paid holidays, vacation, and sick time off; and matching 401(k) plan and matching employee stock purchase plan.
