Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Vision

Develop and own a multi‑year events and programs strategy aligned with GBA’s organizational goals, brand, and revenue targets.

Define what “great” looks like for each event, from content and audience mix to experience design, and continually elevate quality and impact.

Advise the President & CEO and senior leadership team on event strategy, pricing, sponsorship packaging, and program concepts that advance GBA’s mission and growth.

Regularly review the event portfolio to identify opportunities to sunset, evolve, or launch new programs.

Design and refine revenue strategies, including sponsorship tiers, registration pricing, cross‑event bundling, and upsell opportunities.

Partner closely with membership, development, and communications teams to expand sponsor pipelines, increase attendance, and drive year‑over‑year revenue growth across the portfolio.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with sponsors, partners, and key stakeholders to deepen engagement and renewals.

Event Design, Content & Stakeholder Experience

Shape event agendas and program formats that are compelling to C‑suite and senior executive audiences, in collaboration with sponsors, members, and external speakers.

Ensure events reflect GBA’s brand, policy priorities, and value proposition to member companies.

Analyze attendee feedback, sponsor input, and engagement data to refine programming, pricing, and experience design.

Establish and track KPIs for events (revenue, margin, attendance, sponsor satisfaction, executive engagement, NPS, etc.).

Oversee the overall participant experience, from invitation through post‑event follow up, ensuring a consistently high standard of professionalism and hospitality.

Provide strategic oversight of the full lifecycle of event planning; ensure that operational details are managed effectively by the Events Senior Coordinator and vendors.

Approve event project plans, including timelines, budgets, run‑of‑show, staffing plans, and marketing plans; intervene at key decision points and risk areas.

Ensure effective collaboration with internal teams (e.g. communications, membership, government affairs) and external stakeholders on joint events and partnerships.

Oversee venue and vendor strategy, including RFPs, selection, and contract negotiations.

Manage, coach, and develop an Events Senior Coordinator and other supporting staff or contractors, with a focus on effective delegation and capacity building.

Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance standards for the events team and external vendors.

Maintain a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Bachelor’s degree required; eight or more years of progressive experience in event management or related fields.

Proven leadership of large, complex, revenue‑generating events (e.g., galas, conferences, executive forums).

Demonstrated track record of growing event revenue (sponsorship and/or registration) and managing six‑ or seven‑figure event budgets.

At least three years of experience managing people and vendors, with clear evidence of delegation, coaching, and team leadership.

Experience working with C‑suite and senior executive audiences; comfortable interfacing with high‑level stakeholders and corporate partners.
