We are seeking an experienced Managing Consultant with expertise in contaminated site management to lead large, long‑term remediation and environmental construction programs in Sacramento, California focusing on the transportation sector.

Responsibilities

Lead and provide technical expertise on remediation projects for clients with complex technical and regulatory issues in the transportation sector.

Prepare remedial documents and reports, including feasibility studies, remedial and corrective action plans, remedial design documents, progress and completion reports.

Develop plans of action, drive execution, and ensure adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.

Apply project/program management best practices, collaborate with and lead cross‑functional teams.

Oversee long‑term remediation programs with significant stakeholder engagement.

Mentor junior staff, delegate projects, and provide coaching.

Develop and share project/program management best practices within the team.

Deliver high‑quality client service, identify opportunities to expand ERM’s business.

Prepare technical proposals and participate in business development with existing clients.

Build collaborative relationships with clients and fellow ERM employees.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, or related discipline.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and project scheduling software.

At least 4 years of consulting experience on complex site investigation/remediation projects with focus on project/program controls management.

Demonstrated experience leading cross‑functional teams.

Proven business development experience for large programs/contracts and client relationships supported by repeat business.

Excellent writing, communication, critical‑thinking, and interpersonal skills.

Advanced knowledge of local regulatory climate (e.g., CERCLA, RWQCB, DTSC, local CUPAs) and negotiation skills with state and local regulators.

Ability to communicate effectively with team members, senior management, clients, and regulators.

Desired

Master’s degree in engineering, geology, environmental science, construction management, or related discipline.

Environmental consulting experience.

Professional certification in California (or ability to obtain a professional license within one year).

Project Management Professional (PMP) or Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification.

Compensation Annual base salary in the range of $80,800 – $106,972 USD, with potential for amounts outside this range depending on qualifications; also eligible for an annual discretionary performance bonus.
