How Your Role Fits Into Boldt The purpose of the Safety Manager is to create, inspire, and maintain a “Safe Thinking” safety culture. This position will lead, direct, facilitate, and support project “Safe Thinking” safety initiatives. Responsibilities include ensuring completion of safety audits and inspections, meeting all required internal and external reporting obligations, and providing monthly reporting of site safety metrics. Through planning, leading, evaluating, and continuously improving safety practices, the manager will foster a collaborative working spirit and an integrated project culture.

What You Get To Do

Collaborate with site leadership to outline safety goals for the project and coordinate with subcontractors to embed their safety requirements into the company plan.

Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safety management and collaboration with department leadership.

Participate in developing and conducting staff and craft safety orientation training programs, including forklift, fall protection, respiratory, confined space, etc.

Develop and conduct training to ensure appropriate inspection, maintenance, use of tools and specialty safety equipment.

Lead project pre‑planning, including Safety Task Analysis (STA) and Job Hazards Assessment (JHA) prior to project mobilization.

Create and provide safety guides to ensure appropriate use of tools.

Conduct work area inspections and audits to ensure continued compliance.

Ensure safety policies and procedures are adhered to at the assigned location.

Complete and track weekly, monthly and annual inspections of equipment to ensure continued compliance.

Partner with site leadership in the investigation and documentation of all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.

Coordinate with senior safety leadership in preparing written appeals for safety violation citations.

Coordinate with internal and external resources in handling worker’s compensation cases.

Employ strategies to avoid loss‑time accidents and utilize benefits.

Review documentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures, and implement appropriate corrective action as required.

Create and manage relationships with all job‑site employees to ensure safety program alignment and accountability for reporting safety issues.

Participate in Project Lifecycle Safety Planning.

Establish locational standard methodologies and communicate with other Boldt locations to improve practices.

Manage safety plans and goals to ensure objectives are being met and develop plans to assist the team in meeting goals.

Act as a safety resource and mentor for project staff.

Assist senior safety leadership in planning for high‑risk activities.

What We Expect From You

Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Construction Management or related field required; equivalent education, training or experience may be considered.

At least five years’ experience in construction and/or industrial safety required.

First aid and/or CPR certification preferred.

Certified Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification preferred.

A valid driver’s license may be required. Individuals in this role may be subject to an annual Motor Vehicle Records check.

Physical Requirements And Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to position objects and operate tools or controls, use a computer keyboard, maneuver in confined or awkward spaces, remain in a stationary position, move to access people or machinery, ascend/descend ladders or stairs, and lift up to 20 pounds regularly with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. The employee regularly travels as a driver or passenger, and often works on‑site at construction sites. The role requires close, peripheral, and depth vision, the ability to adjust focus, and effective communication. Working conditions include indoor and outdoor environments with varying temperatures, wet/humid, warm, or dry conditions, frequent use of personal protective equipment, exposure to prolonged loud noise, and potential scents or fragrances. Overtime and weekend work may be required.

Salary & Location Anticipated salary range: $108,225 – $152,866 per year. The range is for the San Francisco office; compensation may vary for other locations.
