About the Role We're hiring a hands‑on Head of Engineering to lead and scale a small engineering team at an early‑stage AI startup. This role is ideal for someone with a strong startup mindset who enjoys building while leading.
You’ll work closely with the founders and own technical execution, backend architecture, and engineering delivery as the company grows.
Responsibilities
Own engineering execution and technical direction
Lead and mentor a small engineering team
Stay hands‑on with backend and platform development
Design and scale distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
Collaborate closely with Product and Leadership
Requirements
8+ years of engineering experience
3+ years leading teams in startup environments
Strong backend and systems design experience
Comfortable in fast‑paced, high‑ownership environments
Interview Process
Initial Call (30 minutes) Conversation with a founder to discuss background, expectations, and fit.
Technical Interview (60 minutes) Discussion focused on system design, backend architecture, and scaling experience.
Leadership Interview (45 minutes) Conversation covering team leadership, execution style, and decision‑making.
