The Role: Executive Director, External & SEC Reporting
The Executive Director, External & SEC Reporting, is a key finance leader responsible for overseeing all external financial reporting for the organization, including SEC filings, consolidated financial statements, and global statutory reporting. You will work closely with the Technical Accounting leader and ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and internal control requirements while driving the transparency, quality and consistency of all external disclosures.
The Team: Operating in 22 countries with offices in APAC, EMEA and North America (primarily Centreville, VA and London, Ontario Canada). You will report to the CAO and have 2 direct reports to start‑up work required as we evolve to a public company.
S&P Global has recently announced the intent to separate our Mobility Segment into a standalone public company. For more information, visit www.spglobal.com/mobility. This role is based in Centreville, Virginia, with plans to relocate to Reston, Virginia, in 2026.
Responsibilities and Impact
Serve as the enterprise owner for SEC and external financial reporting across all business units and global locations.
Develop and execute the company’s disclosure strategy, in partnership with the CAO and CFO, ensuring alignment with executive leadership, Investor Relations, and the Audit Committee.
Provide guidance to the CFO and CAO on emerging regulatory trends, disclosure risks, and impacts on the business.
Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K registration statement, and proxy materials.
Direct the development of MD&A footnotes and other narrative disclosures, ensuring clarity, precision, and regulatory compliance.
Oversee XBRL taxonomy and ensure technical compliance with the SEC’s evolving requirements.
Partner with various corporate functions to ensure SEC disclosures are aligned with corporate messaging and investor communications.
Act as primary point of contact for external auditors on SEC reporting matters.
Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements under U.S. GAAP.
Oversee global statutory reporting, ensuring each jurisdiction meets local requirements and audit deadlines.
Ensure consistency and accuracy in reporting to various agencies, banks, regulators and other external stakeholders.
Lead the creation of the Annual Report, coordinating across finance, legal and communications teams.
Basic Required Qualifications
CPA designation, Master’s degree strongly preferred.
12‑18+ years of progressive experience in financial reporting, including extensive SEC reporting experience.
Prior leadership experience in a large multinational or Fortune 500 organization preferred.
Deep technical expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC rules, and PCAOB standards.
Proficiency in relevant software and tools, such as MS Office.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional communication skills including experience presenting to senior executives and the Audit Committee.
Highly detail‑oriented yet able to operate at an enterprise, leadership level.
Proactive, collaborative, and able to thrive in a dynamic, high‑growth environment.

Compensation and Benefits Information (US candidates only) S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $137,000 to $270,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.
