Our client, a privately owned contract manufacturer in the consumer goods space is looking for a Director of Supply Chain. The Director of Supply Chain will oversee the Planning, Purchasing, and Account Management functions. He or she is responsible for developing the production plan, supporting sales orders, while maintaining an efficient level of inventory to support demand requirements. The Director of Supply Chain interfaces with Clients and Suppliers to develop relationships and understand where there are opportunities for improvement, including cost savings and reduction in lead time. The Director of Supply Chain reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The Purchasing Manager and Planning Manager report into the Director of Supply Chain, as does the Account Management Team. Key Responsibilities: Utilize client supplied forecasts or create forecasts over a rolling time horizon to be used for ordering and inventory management purposes. Create integrated processes among operations, procurement, planning and outside suppliers to execute the planning/replenishment process. Identify system tools needed to implement planning/forecasting/purchasing systems. Apply appropriate optimization methodologies to balance service level, inventory and resource utilization. Work with the Planning Department to maintain a rolling production forecast, which can be used to forecast labor requirements and production equipment utilization. In advance of any issues preventing on time delivery to a client, communicate any issue which will cause late delivery or an order shortage. Provide leadership, guidance and oversight for the successful introduction of new products into operations. Monitor delivery of client supplied materials in relation to production start dates, to ensure that the production date is supported and that the inventory is delivered at an appropriate time. Provide mentoring and guidance to subordinates and other employees. Responsible for acquisition/dismissal of all Supply Chain personnel. Provide reporting, analysis, and improvement plans related to inventory levels, slow-moving and obsolescence, on time delivery, and other key areas of the Supply Chain. Qualifications: Five or more years of experience in Supply Chain Management. Experience with Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing is preferable Demonstrated familiarity with the development, use and implementation of planning and forecasting systems. Ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical management. In-depth experience in material planning and procurement, inventory control and management, production planning, setting production requirements and managing execution, material movement, and service level negotiations. Strong computer software skills (i.e. Microsoft Office and company ERP systems). Experience with Six Sigma, or Lean Manufacturing is preferable Fiscal Responsibilities: Submits Plans and budgets for approval and directs activities in accordance with approved plans and budgets. Responsible for creation and maintenance of expired, obsolete, and rejected materials, in cooperation with the COO and CFO. Responsible to esnure that monthly forecasts are submitted and to ensure that projected sales are met. Establish, present and manage budgets for conducting department activities and operation support of programs. Physical Requirements: Requires walking, standing and sitting for lengthy periods of time. Certain areas require the use of safety equipment (i.e. safety glasses in the production areas) Attributes: Strong leadership and decision-making capabilities. High level of integrity and professionalism. Possess the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff and executive leadership. Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment while exhibiting positive behavior. Results-driven, with the ability to execute and prioritize multiple initiatives. Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to travel on a limited basis. Seniority level
