$79,700.00 - $124,025.00 Overview

Reporting to the Vice Chair for Research Affairs, the MRI Hardware Engineer will be part of Yale’s renowned MR imaging center. The center provides state-of-the-art MR equipment and expertise for biomedical research, focusing on structural, functional, physiological, and biochemical MRI and MRS studies, including applications in neurosurgery, neuroscience, metabolism, epilepsy, and psychiatric disorders. The role requires expertise in magnet and gradient coil design, construction, and system integration. Responsibilities include building gradient sets, interfacing electronics, and collaborating on developing a low-cost MRI device. The environment encourages creative problem solving and professional growth, with work based onsite at Yale Magnetic Resonance Research Center, 300 Cedar Street, New Haven, CT. Required Skills and Abilities

Proven experience with gradient coil design and construction in MRI or related fields. Experience with gradient coil characterization and correction schemes. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Ability to integrate multiple design elements effectively. Excellent problem-solving skills. Ability to meet deadlines and provide constructive feedback. Principal Responsibilities

Manage research support for research and clinical needs. Contribute to research design and project planning. Prepare project designs and cost estimates. Oversee research support services across the university. Engage with clients, evaluate problems, and define project scope. Develop material specifications and manage procurement. Assign projects to staff and monitor progress. Ensure technical quality and departmental operations. Manage project schedules and billing. Ensure quality of research instruments and collaborate with research committees. Develop and monitor departmental budget and goals. Perform other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience

Bachelor's Degree in a related field and at least seven years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Background Check and Health Requirements
