Sr. Compliance Engineer
Amazon Lab126 is an inventive research and development company that designs and engineers high-profile consumer electronics. Lab126 began in 2004 as a subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc., originally creating the best-selling Kindle family of products. Since then, we have produced devices like Fire tablets, Fire TV, and Echo. What will you help us create? As a Sr. Compliance Engineer, you will be experienced in Radio Frequency (RF), ElectroMagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Energy Efficiency certification processes. You will have familiarity with North American and Global standards and compliance requirements. You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative wireless products to meet high performance bar. You will work closely with internal interdisciplinary teams to drive key aspects of product definition, execution, and test. You must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in an open collaborative peer environment. You will develop and execute strategies that address evolving global wireless spectrum standards and requirements. Your role will include solving ambitious and complex compliance challenges through research, engagement with regulatory agencies, hands-on testing, debugging, and validation activities. You must be highly analytical, able to work effectively across multiple teams and have a strong ability to navigate the global regulatory compliance schemes to enable market access of consumer electronic products. As a technical lead, you will establish standardized approaches and best practices while mentoring and supporting junior engineers. Additionally you must excel at communicating complex regulatory matters to engineering teams, driving compliant designs from early development phases, and make sound technical decisions that balance innovation with compliance requirements. Key job responsibilities: Work closely with the product management team and design team by researching and specifying regulatory and industry certification requirements. Plan and direct compliance testing of hardware platforms, devices, and accessories. Support the design team through product execution, and will ultimately assist them to meet all applicable hardware compliance requirements. Perform fast-paced, detailed, and results-oriented independent research and literature reviews to yield actionable conclusions to initially ambiguous questions. Deliver concise and informative compliance updates to management and collaborate with the legal team to navigate complex compliance issues. Submit filings to obtain certifications. Regulatory approvals will consist of domestic (FCC) and international certifications (ISED/CE/MIC), and other regulatory bodies. Work with our manufacturing partners, labs to test and ensure all in-production devices remain compliant with all certifications. Travel to APAC 10-20% work time when necessary.
