Additionally, this person will lead efforts for internal/external communication campaigns while developing strategies to ensure effectiveness of communication strategies.

This is a hybrid position located in Kansas City, MO.

Responsibilites

Strategic Communications

Leads and manages essential PR and communications initiatives from concept to completion. Leads efforts for internal/external communication campaigns. Develops strategies to ensure effectiveness of communication strategies. Creates press releases and other communication (internal and external) materials incorporating firm messaging and supporting the firm’s brand pillars. Manages internal corporate communications and ensures clear and concise messaging that reflect firm goals and objectives. Ensures communications materials are presented in a clear, engaging and unified manner that positively promotes the brand. Guides the industry awards and surveys program, working closely with the Survey Coordinator to maintain high standards and maximize visibility opportunities.

Media Relations and Thought Leadership

Oversees media relations strategy and execution, ensuring effective tracking systems are in place and supporting the PR Coordinator in securing and managing media coverage. Develops and maintains press relationships with key media outlets. Responsible for pitching media as well as researching and identifying the most appropriate media outlets for publishing opportunities and speaking engagements. Develops thought leadership content for pitching media. Stays up to date on industry trends and creates media opportunities for pitching relevant media outlets. Professionally and effectively communicates with shareholders and associates on relevant media opportunities. Works to promote individual and regional offices to meet local PR objectives and help drive external media opportunities to build local visibility. Advises Regional Business Development Managers on office-specific PR objectives.

Leadership and Team Management

Leads a multidisciplinary communications team, including Public Relations, Marketing Communications, Writing, Survey Coordination, and social media, fostering collaboration and professional growth. Provides strategic oversight and mentorship to direct reports, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and consistent execution across all communication channels. Works with internal systems, other members of the marketing department and other business lines to fulfill public relations and communications duties. Perform such other/additional duties as may from time to time be assigned.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously reporting to the Director of Communications. Demonstrated self-starter, who takes initiative, is extremely well organized and exhibits consistent and excellent follow through, creativity and maturity. Possesses strong client service approach with both internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated strategic thinker and takes a proactive approach to job responsibilities. Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally with shareholders and other key stakeholders. Ability to manage PR coordinator and Survey Coordinator positions. Ability to draft press materials and liaise with reporters to coordinate press opportunities. Ability to track and manage and all press coverage. Demonstrated ability to draft internal and external marketing communications that are free of grammatical errors, aligned with firm strategic communication messaging and factually accurate. Demonstrated proficiency in using Excel, PPT and other MS office functions in addition to having working knowledge of the firm's media database.

Education & Certifications

Minimum of 7 years' experience. Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in communications or marketing, or related experience.
