Position Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Tax Manager to join our growing tax practice. This is a critical leadership role with significant partner-track potential. The Senior Tax Manager will be responsible for managing a portfolio of complex client engagements, providing technical leadership and mentorship to the tax team, and contributing to the firm's business development efforts. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with exceptional technical skills, a passion for client service, and a proven ability to lead and develop talent. Key Responsibilities Manage a portfolio of diverse clients, including corporations (C-Corp and S-Corp), partnerships, high-net-worth individuals, and trusts & estates. Serve as the primary client contact, building and maintaining strong, long-lasting relationships based on trust and expertise. Provide sophisticated tax planning, consulting, and compliance services, identifying opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and provide value-added advice. Oversee the preparation and final technical review of complex federal, state, and local income tax returns and provisions. 2. Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance: Conduct final review of complex tax returns and associated workpapers. Lead the research and resolution of complex tax issues, preparing well-documented technical memoranda. Review quarterly and annual income tax provisions in accordance with ASC740. Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations, and proactively communicate their impact to clients and internal teams. Ensure the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and compliance on all client deliverables. 3. Team Management & Development: Supervise, train, and mentor a team of Tax Managers, Seniors, and Staff. Manage engagement workflow, resource allocation, budgets, and billing to ensure engagements are completed efficiently and profitably. Conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations, providing career guidance to foster the professional growth of team members. Cultivate a positive, collaborative, and high-performance team environment. 4. Firm Growth & Business Development: Actively participate in business development initiatives, including identifying new service opportunities with existing clients. Assist partners in developing proposals, leading presentations to prospective clients, and expanding the firm's market presence. Represent the firm at professional and community networking events. Contribute to firm-wide strategic projects and practice development efforts. Qualifications & Experience Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license. Minimum of 8 years of progressive tax experience in a public accounting firm. Significant experience reviewing complex tax returns for a variety of entity types. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple engagements and competing deadlines. Strong leadership, mentorship, and personnel management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills. Preferred: Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or a Juris Doctor (JD) with an LL.M. in Taxation. Proven track record of successful business development. Proficiency with tax software such as CCH Axcess, GoSystem Tax RS, or similar platforms, and tax research tools like RIA Checkpoint or BNA.
