Position Summary As an English Teacher at Kehillah, you will play a key role in developing students’ critical thinking skills and inspiring a lifelong appreciation for literature and language. You will teach existing English courses and design and lead new, advanced electives that reflect your own academic interests and expertise. This 6‑month mid‑year replacement role may transition into a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum development and instruction: design engaging lesson plans that align with standards, create scope and sequence, and incorporate technology to support differentiated instruction.

Assessment and reporting: assign and evaluate classwork and exams, provide timely feedback, maintain accurate records using PowerSchool and Schoology.

Collaboration and professional development: collaborate with colleagues on curricula, contribute to departmental initiatives, provide lesson plans when absent, and participate in professional growth plans.

Classroom management: apply effective strategies for in‑person and virtual settings, foster a respectful and engaging learning environment.

Student support and advising: guide behavior, maintain office hours, support progress through the Kehillah Student Education Plan, and advise assigned students.

School community support: participate in experiential programs, faculty week, orientation, field trips, and uphold the school’s educational philosophy.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in English or related field; Master’s preferred.

Experience: Minimum three years teaching high school English (middle school experience is an asset).

Instructional design: incorporate new technologies and pedagogical approaches.

Student differentiation: meet diverse needs through differentiated instruction.

Technology proficiency: Google Docs, Zoom, Schoology, blended or flipped learning.

Classroom management: effective strategies for student behavior.

Teamwork: collaborative with colleagues to align curriculum.

Ethics and integrity: uphold high ethical standards and professionalism.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception.

Work at a desk and computer screen for extended periods.

Work in a climate‑controlled environment, occasionally outdoors, and remotely as determined.

Navigate deadlines and diverse contacts, occasionally stressful.

Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.

Dexterity of hands for office equipment.

Travel across a two‑story, 50,000 sq. ft. campus.

Sit or stand for extended periods.

Turn, bend, kneel, crouch, or reach overhead.

Salary Description

$82,400 - $119,480 per year
