Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
location, with possible work at
Elkton, Maryland
or
Ronkonkoma, New York .
The Northrop Grumman PS&C business unit is based in Elkton, Maryland and began solid-propellant rocket operations in 1948. The Palm Beach Gardens location is the Air-breathing propulsion center of excellence specializing in the design, analysis and system integration of ramjets, scramjets and other advanced air-breathing propulsion systems.
Job Summary Perform design of one or more moderately complex or portions of structural components and functional systems of company products... Release results as design data after review by higher graded engineer.
Job Responsibilities
Performs design of one or more moderately complex or portions of structural components and functional systems
With limited supervision, applies theoretical knowledge and engineering techniques to the solution of more complex components, structures, and sub‑assemblies
Responds in a timely manner to all requests and explores all avenues within authority and makes appropriate referrals to other sources
Makes thoughtful and valuable suggestions and recommendations for improving own work and/or group’s work
Establish requirements for materials, structural components, and functional systems
Release results as design data after review from other engineers
Document results of design activities
Basic Qualifications (Level 2)
Requires STEM degree. A bachelor’s plus at least 2 years of experience or a master’s degree with 0 or more years of experience. Strong preference for Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance – US citizenship required.
Excellent interpersonal, communication, writing, presentation and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Working knowledge of computer‑aided design (CAD) software.
Knowledge of ASME Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Preferred Qualifications (Level 2)
Current active Security Clearance.
Working knowledge of NX.
Knowledge of general machine shop fabrication processes, additive manufacture experience desirable.
Understanding of design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
Ability and willingness to travel.
Basic Qualifications (Level 3)
Requires STEM degree. A bachelor’s plus at least 5 years of experience or a master’s degree with 3 or more years of experience. Strong preference for Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance – US citizenship required.
Proficiency with Siemens NX.
Knowledge of ASME GD&T.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications (Level 3)
Experience with mechanical design of propulsion or fluid systems.
Current active Security Clearance.
Proficiency with Siemens Teamcenter United Architecture.
Ability to interpret and apply GD&T.
Knowledge of general machine shop fabrication processes, additive manufacture experience desirable.
Understanding of design for assembly / design for manufacturing (DFA/DFM).
Primary Level Salary Range: $83,400.00 – $125,200.00 Secondary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 – $129,500.00
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions and allow employees to share in company results. Northrop Grumman also provides health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off.
